The Uganda connection

When you pay to perform one of Peter Bond’s scripts, you will be directly helping people in desperate need in Uganda.

Peter spent his working life as a teacher in Bristol. In his later years at school, he was invited - for no very obvious reason - to take charge of the school’s link with a school in Jinja, Uganda. This led to contacts with other Ugandan schools and to various charities working in Uganda.

Since his retirement, he has kept up his connections with Uganda and, in particular, with three charities. Please click on the name of any of these charities to take you to the relevant website:

The BUSOGA TRUST provides clean water in rural parts of Uganda with wells, boreholes, latrines and washrooms. They also supply hygiene and sanitation training, and menstrual hygiene management workshops for women and girls. Peter has funded new boreholes and also rehabilitations of old, non-functioning boreholes.

HAILEYBURY YOUTH TRUST (carbon-saving building projects for schools). When Peter first visited RAVO School (RAVO stands for Rescue for Aids Victims and Orphans), there were hardly any solid buildings. Boys boarding there slept on the ground. Hygiene was appalling. Peter financed a new classroom-block, a kitchen, a girls’ hostel, a boys’ hostel, and new showers and toilets. Unsurprisingly, there is now high demand for places at the school!

SALVE INTERNATIONAL supports street children in Uganda. They offer the children counselling, care, and education and, when possible, return them to their families. Peter has contributed to various projects including a Drug Rehabilitation Centre.

Peter donates all income from his literary works to these charities. My apologies for boasting, but I want you to know where your money will go.
